However, now it looks like the actor has addressed the whole situation himself.

Over a year after the Slapgate incident, the 55-year-old actor finally opened up about the moment when he smacked Chris Rock in front of the whole world.

In a conversation at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, Will Smith finally decided that it was time to talk about last year’s Oscar slap. While his wife had already shared her thoughts on it, the actor said that though he wanted to make people “feel good,” he was also “deeply human.” He also went on to say that his “virtue is not yet perfected.”

Although the star seems to be able to accept his faults, he also said that the incident made him “deeply humbled and deeply inspired to perfect his light.” He even revealed his plan for the “next phase” of his life. While the King Richard star left out names in his interview, Jada Pinkett Smith did something quite different when she came out with her revelations.

While Will Smith finally addressed his mistakes with his previous behavior, his wife chose to give fans a whole different view of the entire thing.

Jada Pinkett Smith decided to go on a truth-telling spree a few months back. During this spree, the actress made some rather startling revelations about her marriage to Will Smith and more. Apart from claiming that they had been separated for seven years, she also opened up about instances that had led to the whole shocking slap at the Oscars. While most of the world believed it had gone down because of Chris Rock’s joke, The Matrix star said there was a backstory to it.

She suddenly revealed that the comedian had once believed in the separation rumors that were going around. While that was not the problem, she claimed that he had called her up and tried to ask her out. Although he profusely apologized after finding out he was mistaken, it looks like Will Smith did not let it go. Shortly after she revealed this information, Rock came out with a clapback of his own.
