It has been almost three decades since the American television sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, aired its last episode. This sitcom was historical, not only for its quality but also for marking Will Smith’s entry into Hollywood. Though Smith was popular as a rapper even before featuring in the popular sitcom, The Fresh Prince was a testament to his talent as an actor. The star recently celebrated the 33rd anniversary of his debut show by posting on his social media, along with the other cast members.

Though there have been a lot of changes in these years, the friendship between Will Smith and his co-star from the sitcom remained constant. The star even shared a throwback post on his Instagram story to celebrate the birthday of his beloved friend from The Fresh Prince.

Smith garnered a lot of fame after his debut in the award-winning sitcom. However, he was not the only cast member whose career blossomed before fans’ eyes. Alfonso Ribeiro, who played the Smith’s geeky, socially awkward cousin, played an equally important role in the NBC show. Both Smith and Ribeiro shared a lovely bond both on and off-screen and have been in touch since the show went off air in 1996. As the latter celebrated his birthday on 21st September, Smith shared a funny throwback from 2022 on his Instagram story with the hashtag “GOAT”.

The video was an MTV commercial for Ribeiro’s Breakin and Poppin Guide, which was a kit to learn break dance. Smith shared the commercial on his Instagram on 13th November 2022 with a caption that said, “ALF, You been gettin’ PAID for decades!!!! That book was $20 – damn near FORTY YEARS AGO!” The Pursuit of Happyness star also used the “GOAT” hashtag in his post. Sharing the same commercial on his Instagram story, Smith sent all the fans on a memory trip.

Unlike Smith’s character, the 52-year-old actor who played Carlton Banks had only one or two love interests every season. One of them was Tyra Banks, who appeared as a guest star in the fourth season of Fresh Prince and played the character of Jackie Ames. While talking on Dancing With The Stars, the co-hosts reminisced their brief relationship on the show. Sadly, their relationship could not bloom in the show because she was Smith’s childhood friend.

Both Ribeiro and Banks talked about how their characters were so into each other and they knew that they had a spark. They talked about a scene where the on-screen couple was sharing a beautiful moment with each other. In the scene, both Tyra and Carlton were dancing until Smith interrupted them in the show. This broke Carlton’s heart, and he said, “And the short guy gets dissed again. And it broke my heart a little bit”.
