Resistor is based on Daniel Suarez's bestselling sci-fi thriller Influx, which revolves around Jon Grady, a physicist, and his team who have invented a device capable of manipulating gravity. While specific plot details are still undisclosed, it is known that the groundbreaking discovery faces opposition from a group intent on suppressing technological progress. According to reports, Zak Olkewicz penned the first draft, and Eric Warren Singer is currently working on the latest version.
With Bad Boys already stirring up enthusiasm among fans, they now appear even more eager for what lies ahead.
Fans look forward to Sony’s Resistor starring Will Smith after Bad Boys’ success
According to Deadline's report, Escape Artists have been developing the project for some time. However, after receiving a script from Eric Warren Singer last month, both the studio and producers viewed this as an opportunity suited for Will Smith. Allegedly, the studio wanted to move quickly to continue their successful partnership with Smith, especially considering the impressive performance of Bad Boys: Ride or Die in revitalizing the summer box office.
Many fans are already intrigued by the details, especially since a sci-fi thriller has always been Smith's forte. Some are even reminiscing about his roles in I Am Legend and iRobot as a preview of what Smith could bring to this new project.

Opinions among fans vary widely, with expectations ranging from expecting a blockbuster to fearing a potential flop, with little middle ground. However, most agree that Resistor could mark a return to the genre where Smith has delivered numerous blockbusters. Although no director has been attached to the project yet, meetings are expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
