Will Smith Celebrates a “momentous occasion” With 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' Weeks After Its Digital Release
People who thought that Will Smith was finished with show business just because he embarrassed himself on national television two years back were but a small fraction of his fans. Clearly, in the eyes of many, he never left the spotlight. The actor won an Oscar on the very night he had an obvious public meltdown. And while some may feel that the Oscar-winning star no longer fits the pedestal they once placed him on, he is evidently still one of the best entertainers out there. And his comeback with the Bad Boys franchise in 2024 proves just that.
The fourth installment, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, recently crossed its final milestone, and Will Smith could not have been happier about it.

Just from the opening weekend, it became clear that the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starrer, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, had an infectious energy that captivated the audience. As of August 2024, with the movie now available for streaming, it has grossed exactly $400 million worldwide, and it still has a Japan release pending. Will Smith’s production studio, Westbrook, which was also behind the successful film, celebrated this “momentous occasion” with an Instagram post, which was then shared by the I Am Legend star as well on his story.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die entered theaters when the box office was plagued by high-profile misfires such as The Fall Guy and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. But with this number, the fourth Bad Boys film has officially become the second-biggest film in the franchise after Bad Boys for Life. Who knows, maybe after the Japan release, it could break its predecessor’s record as well. But that is not the only reason to celebrate.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die also helped the Will Smith franchise achieve a major collective milestone at the box office.
