Will DC Take Notes From MCU to Replace the Humongous Void of Henry Cavill’s Superman?
Henry Cavill as Superman is an experience that comes along once in a century. He left a void in the hearts of DC fandom as he bid farewell to the role of Superman. We are no strangers to the legacy that the Enola Holmes star left behind as Superman. Not only did he play the role flawlessly, but he also set a benchmark for other actors to follow. Everyone awaits to see the next actor take up the Superman mantle. And it seems like DC will be following Marvel’s route to find Cavill’s replacement.
DC and Marvel are undoubtedly amongst some of the biggest film franchises in the industry today. Both have been going neck to neck with incredible films from both franchises. However, to find Cavill’s replacement, DC is likely to take the same route as Marvel did with Tom Holland. Industry Insider John Rocha appeared on the Hot Mic Podcast as he made a speculation about Superman Legacy’s casting.

Apparently, DC plans to cast a young actor for the role. Rocha revealed that the new actor would be between the age group of 22 and 26 years. Surprising as it sounds, Tom Holland was also the age when Marvel cast him to play Spiderman after Andrew Garfield. Furthermore, a report by Koimoi states that the actor replacing Cavill for Superman is being eyed as “young farm boy type”.
However, at this point, Rocha’s statement is a mere speculation and there is no confirmation for the same. There is no confirmation from the DC bosses about the same. Meanwhile, the next Superman film a.k.a Superman: Legacy is a few years away and will premiere worldwide on July 11 2025.
Not long ago, James Gunn confirmed on Twitter that he will be acting as the frontrunner for the upcoming Superman film. Interestingly, Gunn revealed previously how he wants Henry Cavill in DC but not as Superman.

James Gunn earned much backlash after he axed out the British actor from the role of Superman. The DC fandom stormed the internet with tweets aimed at Gunn as they called out the Suicide Squad director. However, as surprising as it sounds, Gunn may have mocked fans of Cavill’s Superman again recently.

We are no strangers to Gunn’s Twitter shenanigans. He is extremely active on the social media platform and often updates the fans about DC’s developments. The director set the internet ablaze after he stated how Cavill was still alive in reply to a fan comment about missing the British actor. The DC fandom took Twitter by storm as they called out Gunn for removing Cavill as Superman and mocking fans afterward. Suffice to say, the drama evolving out of Cavill’s exit as Superman is interesting to say the least.
