A passionate regular at the Met Gala, with her first appearance dating back to 2008, Blake Lively is a true fashion icon. Having nailed outfits from top designers like Versace, Chanel, Gucci, and Burberry, always bringing her A-game, Lively’s fashion sense transcends television. So much so that in 2022, she co-chaired the event and stunned in a show-stopping copper Versace gown with a dramatic bow that transformed into a flowing blue train. 2024, however, has brought disappointment amongst her fans. 

Among all the celebrities adorned in their best attires, all eyes searched for the Gossip Girl alum while she opted to stay out of the spotlight this time.

As reported by Elle magazine, a few hours ago, Blake Lively and her star husband, Ryan Reynolds both preferred to have a day to themselves. Opting out of Met Gala's glamour extravaganza, Hollywood's IT couple stayed back home to have a cozy family time with their kids. Having been to the fashion mecca 10 times, she has been skipping the Gala for two years in a row.

The star gave little hint to her Met Gala appearance when she attended the New York Tiffany & co. last sparking much anticipation of her star night on May 7th. However, Lively decided to wrap up May with her previous appearance. As a result, fashion fans mourn the absence of their icon, as the Met Gala 2024 was not the same this time.

Not only Lively but more Met Gala icons who take center stage of the event, unfortunately, skipped this year's celebration. 

The Met Gala 2024 was notably missing some of its usual A-listers, leaving a void in the evening's glamor and excitement. Absentees include Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, Katy Perry whose AI-generated looks are all over X. Even Lady Gaga, who was highly anticipated ahead of her Joker: Folie à Deux release did not make it but Doja Cat did don a look that honored Gaga's previous two looks. 

Additionally, pop icon Taylor Swift was nowhere to be seen, nor was her beau Travis Kelce, possibly due to her ongoing preparation for the Eras Tour. Other notable absences included Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Billie Eilish, who have all been regular attendees in the past. Despite the missing faces, the event still managed to dazzle with its theme and fashion, but the absence of these A-listers was undoubtedly felt.
