In today’s time, it is almost impossible for one to not know of Ryan Reynolds. Arguably one of the biggest actors in the industry, Reynolds has become a household name. Over the years, we have witnessed the Deadpool star feature in a series of hit films and TV shows. While the actor never fails to amaze us with his work, there are times when he garnered some criticism for his work.

Back in 2017, Ryan Reynolds dived into the realm of sci-fi thriller with his film Life. The film marked the first time the Free Guy star starred in the genre. Despite delivering a promising performance, an astronaut seemed unimpressed with the movie for THIS reason.

Life was one of the most anticipated projects of its time. Fans were eager to witness a star-studded ensemble of Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson together on screen. The film lived up to its hype, delivering a chilling narrative and powerful individual performances. However, Life could not escape astronaut Chris Hadfield. Hadfield could not help but point out the scientific inaccuracies featured in the movie.

The space expert seemed to find out a handful of shortcomings in the movie. Firstly, Hadfield pointed out how the film wrongfully used an oxygen candle as a killing tool in the movie. Unlike how the film portrayed it, a shard of glass usually shatters in a gravity-free environment. Meanwhile, another inefficiency that could not escape Hadfield’s eye was the use of a flamethrower in the confined quarters of the spaceship. He revealed how using fire in space is technically lethal and even pointed out the conspicuous absence of triggered alarms.

However, the Deadpool star who plays Rory Adams revealed that he had sought expertise from Hadfield for the film. Interestingly, this makes the space experts’ observations more resonant. Despite a promising story, Life‘s box office performance was not as impressive.

The 2017 space horror film Life unfolds in the shadows of the stellar abyss. It takes the audience through an exciting encounter between humans and aliens. The space crew in the film finds some life form on Mars. Much to their surprise, the life form turns out to be much more intelligent and dangerous. As the crew finds itself amid an unknown life form, they are forced to make some difficult decisions.

Despite promising a unique storyline, the film performed decently at the box office. On a budget of $58 million, the Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal starrer earned $100 million around the globe. Meanwhile, the Deadpool star also had a fallout with Gyllenhaal. The Hollywood friendship went south shortly after the movie.
