It is by far on secret that Friends has etched a permanent spot in viewers’ hearts in the past decades. From Monica’s pristine apartment to the orange couch at Central Perk, onto which the six friends piled for chit-chat while sipping their drinks, the devoted fans remember it all. But have you ever stopped to wonder–how do they stack up?

For years, die-hard fans of the sitcom have debated over who reigns supreme in the realm of Central Perk stature. More importantly, is Phoebe Buffay, played by the delightful Lisa Kudrow, truly the pint-sized queen of the group?

The tallest member among the iconic six on Friends 

David Schwimmer, who played the beloved Ross Geller, claims the top spot at an impressive 6’1. Ross is one of the main characters in the series and when he started his journey on Friends he was 27 years old. The actor’s significant height has always added to his imposing presence on the show, especially during his character’s endearingly awkward moments. As for Lisa Kudrow, she was certainly not the shortest cast member.

Instead, she was the tallest among the female trio, standing at an impressive 5’8″. This crown belongs to the effervescent Jennifer Aniston, who stands at a petite 5’4″. The iconic Rachel Green actress was the shortest and her beloved friend and costar Courtney Cox followed closely behind at 5’5″. Meanwhile, Matthew Perry, the witty Chandler Bing, had 6’0″ height, while Matt LeBlanc, Joey Tribbiani himself, rounds out the group at 5’10”.

Despite the difference in their heights, the 6 of them saw eye to eye on things that mattered. Apart from their height, their salaries too were different at a certain point of time. However, David Schwimmer and Jennifer Anistion’s efforts made everyone equal.

Throughout the 10 seasons, Rachel, Monica, Ross, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe remained a tight-knit group. However, it was not something that fans watched on the screen; the actors took their friendships off-screen too. When the romantic arc between Ross and Rachel caught the viewers’ attention in season 2, the creators increased the salaries of Aniston and Schwimmer. But this did not sit well with the actors and they wanted their co-stars to get the same pay as them. 

Before the third season, the entire cast sat down with the producers and demanded the same salary. Due to their joint efforts, the cast secured a pay raise of $100,000 per star per episode, as well as a portion of the syndication earnings. Just like the Friends actors, the cast of The Big Bang Theory reduced their salaries to match new members Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch. These sacrifices of the fellow actors for each other serve as a testament to the bond they create during their time together.
