It was at a Walgreens where Colman and Raúl Domingo first laid eyes on each other. However, the meeting was brief as the latter was hurried away by a friend. Nevertheless, Colman Domingo could not help but dwell on the moment. “I just felt something,” he confessed to GQ. Raúl Domingo, too, found himself unable to shake the memory of the actor’s face despite the urgency of heading to a party. Turning to Craigslist’s Missed Connections, Raúl Domingo penned a post: “I saw you outside of Walgreens in Berkeley…”

The Color Purple actor came across the Missed Connections post addressed to him. “I literally jumped out of my chair when I saw the post,” the 54-year-old recounted. Within two days, they went on their first date and tied the knot in California in 2014. Although after Rustin‘s Oscar campaign, Domingo’s relationship has drawn a lot of curiosity, the actor wants people to also focus on the craftsmanship of his movie, and not just the interpersonal dynamics portrayed.
