Mr. Freeze, aka Victor Fries, is a top-notch scientist in DC, whose frozen heart has a soft spot only for his wife. In fact, it was his quest to cure his wife's terminal illness that led to his ultimate downfall and turned him into a metahuman who is impervious to sub-freezing temperatures. Over time, Mr. Freeze, with his layered and ambiguous nature, became one of the fan-favorite villains. Even Matt Reeves had shown interest in the character with Collider, back in 2022. However, when Mr. Freeze was first introduced in 1959, he was more of a throwaway character.
It was not until Batman: The Animated Series dropped the episode Heart of Ice that Mr. Freeze really became popular. So far, Mr. Freeze has only featured in one DC movie, Batman & Robin. In the 1997 film, Arnold Schwarzenegger took on the role, and it is fair to say his performance was far better than the film itself. The reason why fans are so convinced that Mr. Freeze would be in Batman 2 is because of the reports suggesting that the movie would take place during Christmas. However, whether he should be in it is still debatable.
Though fans are rooting for this standout character, Mr. Freeze might not be a suitable villain for the dark world of Matt Reeves’ Batman 2.

Mr. Freeze is certainly a memorable villain, no doubt about that. And it is no surprise that the character is now one of the most sought-after characters among Batman fans, even over their earlier Vecna star obsession. However, Mr. Freeze fits better with lighter, more upbeat takes on Gotham. His motivations also do not have the punch needed for the grittier version of Batman. In a Gotham that is all about shadows and corruption, it is hard to imagine a freeze-gun-wielding, borderline anti-hero as the main villain for Batman to tackle.
Unless it is a super-fantastical spin on Freeze, like the Sub Zero movie- which Reeves would most likely not do- there is not much about the challenges he brings to Batman that would keep audiences hooked for long enough. While Mr. Freeze could make for a great addition to an Arkham series or a spin-off movie about his personal tragedy with Nora, he might not be a great fit for The Batman Part II.
