Ryan Reynolds has been on a sports team hunt ever since he set his eyes on the world’s most cherished game. After bringing Wrexham FC back to its former glory, the celebrity turned entrepreneur had Ottawa Senators as his next target. But it seems like Deadpool mercenary cannot ‘Reynolds’ his way around with everything. Sometimes things go against our will and people have to live with it, even if they are as talented as the Vancouver native himself.

Ryan Reynolds’ wish to buy the NHL team has been made known for days uncountable now, and the 47-year-old seemingly went all the extra mile to turn that dream into reality. However, it seems like all that was for nothing but to become a duster. News had it that actor-entrepreneur will not be moving forward with his bid to buy Ottawa Senators, and we now know the new owner of the Canda-based hockey team, and no, it is not Snoop Dog!

According to the latest reports, both the artists, who were bidding to own their first North American sports team have lost their bid to the CEO of Andlauer Management Group, Michael Andlauer. He will apparently acquire the team for $1 billion. While Reynolds surely proved his ‘Bid-ness’ with Mint Mobile’s latest commercial, this is truly disappointing news for Ottawa’s Deadpool lovers.

The bidding for the Senators now comes to rest. While Andlauer will own 90% stakes of the team, Anna and Olivia Melnyk, through the Melnyk Estate, will retain the rest of the 100% ownership. Andlauer’s love for American Hockey dates back to 2003. He was the co-owner and then the majority owner of AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs from 2003 to 2015. In 2015, he bought the Ontario Hockey League’s Belleville Bulls and relocated the team to Hamilton. The team then won both 2018, and 2022 championships.

Well, this incomparable victory is perhaps the reason he won the bid against the Spirited actor and Snoop Dog. According to Sportico, the deal still awaits the approval of the league. Once done, Micheal Andlauer will be acquiring Senators from Eugene Melnyk, who passed away a few years ago. As for Ryan Reynolds, it seems like he will have to look for ways to expand his estate through Wrexham FC and Mint Mobile only for now.
