Anya Chalotra rose to fame on the sets of The Witcher, but from starting her journey with the series to now, she has come a long way. From films to other TV series, the British actress has managed to send her fans into a stupor with her tremendous skills and efforts. However, back in 2019, when the show aired for the first time, the actress made a rather stark revelation that surprised a lot of people.

While Chalotra may be recognized for her role in Netflix’s hit fantasy series, she is not the biggest fan of the genre. In fact, just days after the first season aired, the actress did a tell-all interview where she revealed her favourite fantasy film.

In a phone interview with Collider back in 2019, Anya Chalotra revealed that though she loved The Witcher storyline, she “wasn’t a huge fan of the fantasy genre.” This came as a surprise as the actress is starring in one of Netflix’s biggest fantasy series. Chalotra went on to say that there was one film from the genre that she loved. She named Harry Potter as her favourite.

Chalotra also went on to talk about how even though she did not care much for fantasy, she was still drawn to The Witcher series. She explained that the series interested her because of the relationships in the show, how they were portrayed and the depth that they carried. The British star further added that the scenes in the script ended up being extremely relatable to her.

After throwing fans for a little spin with her not being a fan of fantasy, Anya Chalotra cleared up the questions in everyone’s minds by taking fans through her audition process for the role. She also gave insight into the character she portrays, Yennefer of Vengerberg.

During the same interview, Anya Chalotra was asked about her character’s journey by the interviewers. After talking about Yennefer’s journey of self-discovery, she said that Yennefer stands out because of “her resilience and the experience” she had as a child. The actress even called the character “exceptional” because of these two qualities.

Anya Chalotra also mentioned that the character’s “weakness becomes her strength.” Which fans know to be true now that the series is heading into its fourth season sometime in 2025. But over the years fans have gotten to see the actress grow more into her character. And with the progress made in their latest season, it is evident that the actress’ words have rung true.
