Over the years, the world has watched as music icon, Mariah Carey and NBC’s Friends star, Jennifer Aniston have jokingly thrown shots at each other. While the singer has tried to embody the 90s it girl on more than one occasion, one of her attempts ended up getting a surprising response. However, before their mini beef started, both celebrities had met at Variety’s Power of Women lunch a few years ago.

Both the women had been honorees at the annual event. During the ode to women, the now 54-year-old accidentally ended up confusing the sitcom star for another actress from the 10-season series.

Back in 2019, many elite women of Hollywood made their way to Variety’s Power of Women lunch in Los Angeles. Among them, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Aniston, and 4 other women were to be honored at the event. However, shortly after the Friends star wrapped up her acceptance speech and got her award, the singer took the stage and ended up fumbling. While referring to the sitcom star, the Queen of Christmas accidentally called her by her former Friends costar’s name, “Reese Witherspoon.“

She ultimately blamed it on her poor memory and stated that there were problems with the teleprompter. The whole moment had left anyone who saw it cracking up. However, Carey had to be let off the hook given that the stars had once played sisters on screen before. While their time on the show came to an end decades ago now, the two actresses have managed to build quite a repertoire between them.

From playing on-screen sisters to producing a show together, Aniston and Witherspoon have proved that some Hollywood relationships really can last a lifetime.

It is no surprise that the main Friends cast stayed friends long after the series ended. However, they are not the only ones to have kept in touch. Jennifer Aniston not only nurtured her relationship with Reese Witherspoon but made it flourish. After all, she did play Rachel Green’s younger sister, Jill Green on the show. While both of them have moved on to better things, their best work so far has been their collaboration, The Morning Show.

Although they might still be co-stars, their friendship has been taken to a whole new level. Apart from getting sisterly advice from Aniston, Witherspoon has also admitted to asking her for wellness tips and more. With their show going into its fourth season, there is no doubt fans will be seeing a lot more of the two.
