When Henry Cavill Confessed a Similarity Between His ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Enola Holmes’ Roles
Henry Cavill soared to fame with his iconic portrayal of DC’s Superman in Man of Steel by bringing unparalleled strength and vulnerability to the character. Beyond the cape, he also showcased his versatility in the riveting role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher in 2019. Then, he seamlessly transitioned into the enigmatic world of Sherlock Holmes, unraveling mysteries with a contemporary flair in Enola Holmes alongside Millie Bobby Brown.
One thing that remained consistent throughout his illustrious career was his impressive physique. Well, this very factor also hindered him while portraying two of his most notable characters.

In an interview with Collider from 2020, Cavill spoke about the Victorian suit he donned in Enola Holmes to achieve his character’s debonair charm. In particular his experience of “packing all the muscles” into the detective’s suit. Well, the 40-year-old revealed that in a way it was no different from when he had to “squeeze into” his “extremely tight blue suit” for Superman!
In the past, he has also spoken of his inability to pee while filming Man of Steel due to the absence of a zipper on his snugly-fitted superhero garbs. It seems like that struggle followed him to the sets of Enola Holmes. Apparently, the costume designer struggled to fit his large physique into a three-piece vintage suit. Regardless, he remarked that fitting into the Sherlock Holmes costume was easier than Superman’s.
Even so, the British actor loved wearing his Superman outfit judging by what he said a couple of years ago.

Unlike the original costume from the comic books, Cavill’s Man of Steel fit was missing the iconic red underwear. When he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2021, he was questioned about his thoughts on this. Well, Cavill remarked that he “really loved” his “cool” suit. That said he shared that he would have been “open to the idea” in a future DC project.
Well, Cavill was okay with the underpants being added in “some way, shape, or form”. So, Colbert even joked about the possibility of a “tasteful thong” being added to the attire. However, none of this ever materialized. When the Argylle actor returned to his superhero part in Black Adam, the red underpants were still missing from the ensemble.
