Throughout the ten-year run of Friends, Courteney Cox continually did justice to her central and iconic role as Monica Geller. Then, the beloved TV series would grow to become the biggest television phenomenon of all time. It even went on to score multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards. Meanwhile, Cox’s character’s endearing quirks made her an anchor of the show’s humor and heart. The main cast’s interviews mostly reflected their affinity for their show and the positive experiences its success brought.

Which scene from Friends did Courteney Cox hate shooting?

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres from 2021, Courteney Cox was shown an image of the iconic intro scene of Friends as the host asked whose idea it was to get in the fountain. Well, as it turns out, shooting that scene was one of her least pleasant memories. The 59-year-old revealed that being in the fountain for such a “long time” was “not fun” at all. As the shoot went on for “hours”, it just got progressively worse. 

Earlier in 2016, Jennifer Aniston had also professed the same thing. Not only that but in the conversation with DeGeneres, Cox mentioned how Mathew Perry had felt the same. Apparently, at one point during its shoot, he claimed to have lost all semblance of time because of being in the fountain for so long. Clearly, the cast was not a huge fan of this particular shoot.

However, one particular crew member still defended it once to the point of turning violent!

When Jimmy Fallon invited Matt LeBlanc on to his show in 2019, the result of that meet-up would end in disaster. Upon meeting the actor backstage, the host asked him how many claps were heard in the theme song of Friends. Unfortunately, the Joey actor ended up guessing incorrectly. However, LeBlanc insisted on being right and eventually landed a resounding slap on Fallon’s face. Thankfully, it was only a scripted joke!

Besides the rather convincing outburst seen in the clip, LeBlanc was deemed a well-behaved gentleman by a crew member from Friends too. While the 56-year-old was simply acting, the fanatical followers of the show would have defended their knowledge of the show with just as much fervor. After all, the theme song of the show is one of the most celebrated intros of all time!
