When Arnold Schwarzenegger Draped Himself in American Pride on Receiving US Citizenship
On the 17th of November in 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his thick Austrian accent said, “I, Arnold Schwarzenegger, am humbled, I am moved, and I am honored beyond words to be your governor,” to mark the dawn of a new era. Schwarzenegger’s pledging ceremony as the Governor of California is a monumental moment etched in the minds of many. More than an electoral candidate, he was the Austrian Oak. He was the boy born in the small village of Thal in the cold of July in Austria, albeit with an American dream.
The ‘American dream’. An ethos whose gazillion definitions all intersect with Arnold Schwarzenegger or hard work. “I was so proud that I walked around with the American flag around my shoulder all day long,” he recalled at the Republican National Convention as the Governor of the city of his dreams, 21 years after he pledged to be a part of it.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is as American as it gets. He was a son-in-law to the Kennedy family, is known for playing a murderous mercenary in his Hollywood career, and is an avid cigar lover. However, this did not come easy to him. The Austrian Oak has quite literally worked every muscle in his body. He started lifting at the age of thirteen and came to America with a Mr. Universe title in 1968. It was nearly a decade after further pushing the boundaries that he was recognized as a citizen of the States.
The picture of Schwarzenegger wrapped in the American flag brought a smile to people’s faces back then. And 40 years later, it still manages to have the same effect. The actor has made the most out of his American citizenship.
Not only has he served as the Governor of California twice in a row, but to this day, he continues to work towards change as a climate change activist and humanitarian. Given his popularity and experience in politics, does the Austrian-American stand a chance to run for the White House?

Given that The Terminator actor has always been about pushing the boundaries, one is intrigued by how high he can go. Once a regular at the Oval Office, one wonders if Schwarzenegger can also run for President. The question rose from nadir to pinnacle when the United States witnessed increased attention to their election by Hollywood celebrities.

Be it as supporters such as Jessica Alba, Oprah Winfrey, and more or candidates such as Kanye West, the glitzy town was coming to Washington. And who better than already tried, tested, and titled Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for President? However, due to being born in Austria, the actor even after having citizenship cannot run for the Presidential elections. Looks like the American dream has limitations, even for a phenomenon like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
