Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and the Wrexham boys held hearts and trophies as they scored a massive win against Boreham Wood on April 22. The occasion was so that the Welsh club booked its place back in the fourth tier of the League after 15 whole years. Star striker Elliot Lee and forward Paul Mullin scored the winning three points to send the club’s owners into an emotional roller coaster ride.

As soon as the whistle blew, thousands of fans hurried onto the Racecourse ground, celebrating the long-awaited victory. The players, too, had fits of joy watching their dream finally come true. However, the Deadpool actor and his partner melted in an emotional hug, watching their hard work finally pay off. The team and the managers later had what you can call an alcohol-filled afterparty. And it seems like the Canadian entrepreneur is still in the “emotional hangover” of these historic events.

Following the boozy celebrations, the team apparently traveled to Torquay for their final National League game of the season. And even though they could not win, the Red Dragons did not lose as well. It was a draw, and Wrexham FC signed off the League with a hundred and eleven points. Reynolds would later tweet about him “Still nursing an emotional hangover from an unforgettable 111-point year for” Wrexham.

Back when the co-owners bought the club, they only had one vision in mind: To bring their Welsh club back to its former glory. The third oldest football club in the world has had a glorious past but saw a massive downfall until Reynolds took over. The club was playing England’s fifth tier of football until this year’s National League, wherein they capped off with a total of 111 goals defeating both Notts County and Boreham Wood.

Notably, the win against Boreham Wood did not only make Red Dragons Champions of the League but also made them eligible to play in League Two, AKA the fourth tier in the pyramid next season; hence, Reynolds’s emotional hangover.
