What Made Ryan Reynolds Such a Huge Paul Mullin Fan?
Wrexham is arguably the most popular Welsh team since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s takeover. Throughout their run as owners, the Hollywood stars have done wonders at the club. The duo’s contribution has been immense, from putting the club on the world map to helping it achieve promotion. However, one of the most crucial decisions Reynolds and McElhenney took has to be bringing Paul Mullin on board.
Paul Mullin is undoubtedly Wrexham’s biggest signing over the past few seasons. Since his arrival, the striker turned the tides of the Red Dragons’ attacking line-up. However, as surprising as it sounds, it was not Mullin’s goal-scoring abilities that impressed Reynolds the most.

In 2021, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney signed a handful of players to expand Wrexham’s attack front. And one of the most significant changes they made was bringing Paul Mullin as the new striker for the club. The decision did not fail to impress, as Mullin soon became one of Wrexham’s biggest signings. The 29-year-old netted nearly 79 goals in just 90 of his appearances. However, despite his impeccable abilities to score, it was Mullin’s style of walking and his humble character that made Reynolds such a huge fan of the striker.
In the book Tinseltown: Hollywood and the Beautiful Game – a Match Made in Wrexham, journalist Ian Herbert revealed how Mullin was very different than the other players in the dressing room. Apart from not indulging in creating disturbances, he also was the last player to walk out on the pitch during matches. Moreover, Mullin has a peculiar walking style. Unlike usual athletes, the star striker has a sloppy shoulder. However, Herbert described how he became a completely different person as soon as he stepped into the field.
Meanwhile, the Deadpool star is all praises when it comes to his gameplay as well.

Over the past two seasons, Mullin has become the top striker for not just Wrexham but in the entire National League. And Ryan Reynolds has nothing but praises for the English striker. As per George Dewey, Reynolds’ partner in Maximum Effort production, the Free Guy star is in awe of Paul Mullin. Apparently, Reynolds has a lot of confidence in the striker’s abilities to score in the most challenging situations.
However, one cannot blame the actor for investing his trust in Mullin. Since his injury, the Red Dragons were surely going through a rough patch in their second-division run. Meanwhile, the English forward made his debut this season in the playing eleven as Reynolds also made his first appearance at the Race Course in some time.
