What Are the Remaining Royal Roles for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Post the Megxit?

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, long called it quits with their official roles as the senior royal members. Following the infamous Megxit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paved a way for a whole new life for themselves in the sunny side, California. As the Palace denied their requests of working in affiliation with the crown away from their royal base, the two strived to demand full financial independence. The couple officially denounced the Palace at the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic. They did wash their hands of major royal duties.

However, some lesser significant royal duties or mere charities and campaigns are still affiliated with the Duke and Duchess. Back in 2022, the Palace made it quite clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would not be getting their royal roles back. In addition to it, they have all lost their patronages, like those of their numerous UK charities and campaigns. 

Nonetheless, there are still few that will mean a lot. As reported by People magazine, the Duchess continued working with the animal welfare charity Mayhew and Smart Works charity. On the other hand, Prince Harry remained consistent as a patron of WellChild.

to it are some of their packs like that of Prince Harry’s personal charity, Sentebale, the one he set up with his close friend, Prince Seeiso from Lesotho. All of it was gifted to them on the day they tied the knot.

What did Meghan Markle and Prince Harry do before?

Before the Megxit, the Prince and the Duchess of Sussex were heading the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, The Rugby Football Union, the Rugby Football League, the Royal National Theater, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Nonetheless, all the patronages reverted back to the Queen with the immediate effect of their departure.

They announced their Archewell Foundation in 2020. “At Archewell, we unleash the power of compassion to drive systemic cultural change,” the organization states on its website. “We do this through our non-profit work within The Archewell Foundation 501(c)(3), in addition to creative activations through the business verticals of audio and production“. With a number of such small charities and campaigns, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still hold their charity work in India.
