Bonded in matrimony for over the last 26 years and with two highly successful kids born out of it, the duo is an undisputed power couple. However, as with many things in Hollywood, things are not always the way they seem to be. With a combined net worth of over $400 million, things inside the hearts are not as cordial.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have gone their separate ways despite staying married

Turns out that despite an aggressive defense of his wife at the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith was not exactly with Jada Pinkett. In her latest confession with People, along the lines of her upcoming memoir, Worthy, the actress confirmed that they have been staying separate for the past seven years. “We’re still figuring it out,” she summed up. In what might come as a shocker, the Hollywood A-lister couple is passing through an intense and unconventional marital discord.

She also cleared that she still was in love with Smith. “We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.” The lines come as a stark and contrasting reflection of their marital discord. While often appearing at public events together as one, there was no such occult togetherness behind the cameras. It is no secret that turmoil and rumors have long circulated about their marriage. Yet, Pinkett herself clearing the air is a major development. 

In the very same interview, the mother of two also spoke of their wedding and even how Smith acted as her “drug”.

A whirlwind and unconventional marriage that now borders on separation

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett both had their own grief to share and overcome when they married back in 1997. Processing his divorce from Sheree Zampino, the Men in Black actor came as a rescue for A Different World actress. Pinkett was under treatment for intense depression and suicidal thoughts. However, her love for the actor was so strong that she felt healed to such a level that she no longer needed medicines. “He became the drug,” the actress summarised.

Jada Pinkett admitted to having been involved with R&B singer August Alsina. In a tell-all confession, the couple discussed the affair in brief on Pinkett’s own talk show. And after her recent comments, turns out that even then they were separated.
