Women’s team of soccer is at an all-time high and Welcome to Wrexham is all in capturing that high. The second season put the female Red Dragons in the spotlight, leaving fans surprisingly happy. The official X (Formerly Twitter) account of the docuseries posted a clip from the 6th episode of the second season. It also mentioned, “We wouldn’t be the Wrexham club without them,” marking the importance of the female team.
In the entire clip, one thing that was quite evident was the players’ dedication. Unlike men, women’s games gather a little less attention usually. However, with Reynolds and McElhenney working their charm and brilliance, it makes sense to promote the women’s team as well. The only reason to do so is to fulfill the owners’ promise of developing the club from the 360 angle.
The clip saw the female players practicing in the field, getting dirty and even getting hurt. But as one of the players said, expressing their love for Wrexham FC, “We don’t just turn up for a laugh. We turn up and we take it quite seriously because we know the importance of wearing that badge.” Just like every other time, one of the owners, Rob McElhenney, was seen cheering the players during their match.
However, the episode looked deeper than the players playing and the owners cheering them. What else did the episode showcase?

Just like in the men’s game, women’s football teams also have to pass through different stages of promotion. As the executive, Shaun Harvey, pointed out, the women’s team was as much part of the club as any other team. Therefore, they deserved everything else, just like any other team. The entire episode focused on how hard the team worked, and it also showed their own external and internal journeys in the field.
Welcome to Wrexham once again proved to be the best mediator to showcase the in and out of the Wrexham AFC. Even the Hollywood duo also mentioned that supporting and helping the women’s team thrive would be an opportunity for their growth as well. Considering the business aspect of their program for the female football team, McElhenney promised the girls that they would do everything for them.
