From packing punches and unleashing his wrath on baddies to action and a tinge of comedy, Hollywood action-hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger has done it all. As he once himself admitted, while summarizing his life in a nutshell, “People will remember my successes and they will also remember my failures.” Despite the countless successes and wins, the bodybuilding legend has had some invigorating losses in his life.

Perhaps the biggest of them all was the unfortunate split from his ex-wife, Maria Shriver. In his own words, he admitted that he was woefully wrong, but was also hopeful that the tale would live on.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is hopeful that his story with Maria Shriver will last “forever”

Arnold Schwarzenegger may have had a not-so-chivalrous introduction with Maria Shriver, but they sure did have a fairytale wedding. After four kids, the seven-time Mr. Olympia left his wife “crushed” leading to their eventual split. Admitting that fathering Joseph Baena out of wedlock was his “f*** up”, the Austrian Oak, still has hope. In an interaction with People, the Terminator star revealed that his “chapter with Maria will continue on forever.”

Elaborating it further, Schwarzenegger said that his belief stems from the fact that there never was a “feud” between them. By all means, a regretful mistake on the actor’s part had the duo live separately while still maintaining a cordial relationship. Although, in the initial phase, the implications of all of it were a little too hard to bear for Shriver, time did heal. Finally, The Expendables star also pointed out that to date he never felt “anything other than love” for his ex-wife.

While, indeed, a tough decision to make, the septuagenarian has made his peace with Shriver. Moreover, all of his kids, including Baena, have amicable relations with him.

Separated for more than a decade, the gates forever stay open

In a remarkable show of compassion and mutual maturity, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s remarks do have weight. Earlier in the year, when the star celebrated his 76th birthday, he opted for a low-key family affair at ex-wife, Maria Shriver’s residence. Further, the event had a heart-warming display of affection from the star for his family. Despite staying separately since 2011, the couple have maintained a rare display of respect for one another.

Furthermore, all four of Schwarzenegger and Shriver’s kids are well-settled. Katherine Schwarzenegger, the eldest of the legend’s kids, is married to MCU stalwart, Chris Pratt. Meanwhile, his youngest, born to housekeeper, Patricia Mildred Baena, is keen on following in his footsteps. Alas, despite their differences, the couple stood on their promise that “the kids should not suffer” because of their split.
