"We don't want it anymore"- 'Euphoria' Season 3 Hitting the Set Barely Makes a Ripple Among Fans

Published 07/12/2024, 8:31 PM EDT

Euphoria was renewed for a third season in 2022, a month after the second season hit the screens. And then, for the longest time, there had been no firm production start date for Season 3 from HBO's end. Several factors could be blamed for this delay, and the Hollywood strikes are just one aspect of it. Nonetheless, it seems the show’s third season has finally locked a date to roll its cameras.

HBO has announced that the filming for Euphoria Season 3 will begin at the start of 2025. Head of HBO drama series and films, Francesca Orsi, said in a statement, “I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January.” However, there is still no release date confirmed for the show, and it is very unlikely that Euphoria Season 3 will release anytime before late 2025.

Euphoria gained significant pop culture importance from the moment it graced the screens, especially during the second season. The viewership Season 2 received in the 90 days after its premiere was only second to Game of Thrones. Despite being at the top of its game back then, the delays have led it to lose its grip among fans. This became very evident from their reaction to the filming update.

Fans are almost indifferent to the positive update regarding Euphoria Season 3’s production and do not want the show anymore.

Fans do not care about Euphoria Season 3 anymore

One of the main hooks of Euphoria was its core high-school drama genre, which is going to change with Season 3. In March, several reports confirmed that creator Sam Levinson was aiming for a leap forward in the show’s narrative, shifting the storyline from high school to early adulthood. This was another major hurdle for the show’s progress, as it demanded several creative reworkings. And fans are skeptical that Euphoria Season 3 will end up dragging its feet for a few more years before its release.

Many fans have also lost interest in the series altogether saying, “We don't want it anymore”.

Despite the backlash, there were still some looking forward to the third season, especially with the unresolved issues from Euphoria Season 2. However, whether the changes to the core will resonate with fans or risk Euphoria losing its relevance is still to be seen.
