“Wasn’t that bad” - Fan Praises Sydney Sweeney’s Much-Hated 'Madame Web', Gets a Witty Reaction
Recently, Sydney Sweeney's hot streaks of blockbusters came to an end with the anticipated release of Madame Web. While the superhero flick had garnered a lot of attention ahead of its arrival, it ended up being a miss instead of a hit. Although the actress has not let that bring her down, a fan decided to try and raise her spirits with a few hilarious words of praise. However, it was her witty reaction that stole the show.
For months, Sweeney had been promoting the Spider-verse spin-off, but it did not end up paying off like the 26-year-old had initially thought with the film not being well-received.

In a recent episode of Happy, Sad, Confused with Josh Horowitz, Sydney Sweeney opened up about her thoughts on her film, Madame Web. Although it had been hyped up for months, it had fallen short at the box office. During the conversation, a fan can be heard shouting out that the film, "wasn't that bad." The actress looked mildly surprised before she added, "They should put that in some quotes," which left the crowd cracking up.
Sweeney's joke came as headlines had been focusing on the worst reviews for the Dakota Johnson film, instead of paying attention to the average ones. While the movie may not have done well in theaters, Sweeney could not help but point out how grateful she was for her role as Julia Carpenter. After all, the Sony project had been the 26-year-old's first-ever studio film.
Although Sweeney might still be reeling from the public's reaction to Madame Web, she also surprised her fans with the revelation that Anyone But You might not have been possible without the superhero film.

During the same interview with Josh Horowitz on Happy, Sad, Confused, Sydney Sweeney gave her fans some insight into her rather packed schedule for the last couple of years. The actress revealed that the first role in her recent projects that she landed was for Madame Web with Sony Studios. While there were talks of her starring in other films, the 26-year-old told the crowd that while she was filming the Spider-verse spin-off, she had been "building the packages for Anyone But You and Immaculate."
Once Sweeney had her pitch set up, she "called up Sony" and asked the studio if they would work with her to put out the rom-com, considering that they were already in cahoots at the time. With Madame Web paving the way for the star to partner up with the studio for the rom-com of the year, she seemed to have no regrets about taking up the much-hated project.
