Was Halle Berry Ignored for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Return? Storm Actress Sheds Light on Blake Lively Incident
Deadpool & Wolverine pulled off the ultimate crossover of merging the MCU and X-Men worlds. This move also gave many X-Men characters a chance to return to the MCU after years away. Take Jennifer Garner, for instance, who stepped back into her Elektra role for the first time in two decades. But not everyone got that lucky break. Halle Berry, who last played Storm in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, was shown the dream of reprising her role after a decade, only to be left hanging.
Berry recently opened up about her experience and her conversation with Blake Lively about the role in the Ryan Reynolds starrer.

The first time rumors of Halle Berry reprising her X-Men role in Deadpool & Wolverine surfaced was when she posted a photo showing off her short, white hair- the iconic look from her Storm days. While chatting with ComicBook to promote Netflix’s The Union, which was apparently the reason for the haircut, Berry was asked about the rumor. She revealed that Blake Lively had, in fact, asked her to play Storm in Ryan Reynolds’ movie. However, neither Lively nor Reynolds followed up. “He never asked me,” said the 57-year-old.
Ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine’s release, many Hollywood insiders confirmed a cameo of Storm in the movie. Although Berry did not show up in the billion-dollar film, she made it clear that she would have jumped at the chance if there had been any official discussions. Nonetheless, fans still got their fill of exciting cameos and reprised roles in the 2024 movie, including one of the biggest surprises- Henry Cavill, who hung up the Superman cape sometime before.
Henry Cavill's role in the MCU, however, faces a huge risk of ending with just the less-than-30-second cameo because of this one reason.

Henry Cavill appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine as a Wolverine variant, aka the Cavillerine. After the cameo, many fans hoped this signaled a new chapter for Cavill’s superhero career after the DCU. However, it seems there might not be room for Cavill as Wolverine in the MCU. Recently, a well-known Hollywood insider confirmed that Hugh Jackman is not ready to hang up his claws just yet.
MyTimeToShineHello tweeted, "Hugh Jackman wants to stick around and make more movies with Ryan Reynolds”. Unless Cavill makes another cameo or the MCU decides to mix in Wolverine variants, it is possible that his brief appearance may just be a nod to his superhero past. And it is also possible that much like Halle Berry, Cavill might end up being left out by the Deadpool franchise.
