Wales Tourism Boss Credits Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for Their Incredible Work
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s journey with Wrexham has been no less than a fairytale. Back in 2020, no Welsh football fan would have imagined Wrexham reaching its heights today. Ever since the duo took over the Red Dragons, they have turned the tides for the Welsh side. However, apart from Wrexham, Reynolds and McElhenney’s takeover has greatly benefitted Wales as well.
We are no strangers to the fact that the Deadpool star and McElhenney helped put Wrexham on the global map. Apart from the club, the docuseries also introduced the world to Welsh culture. And recently, Wales’s Tourism chief praised the duo for their incredible work.

As per reports by Mirror Co.UK, Jim Jones, chief executive of North Wales tourism, was all praises for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The tourism boss credited the duo for popularizing the entire region owing to their incredible work at Wrexham. Jones revealed how the actors helped put the region on the global map like never before and gave North Wales almost a $1 billion boost.
Mainly due to their documentary series, Welcome To Wrexham, both Reynolds and McElhenney helped promote the club as well as the Welsh culture. Meanwhile, the duo also brought in solid profits for the Red Dragons’ side after taking over in 2020. Interestingly, owing to its incredible popularity, Welcome To Wrexham has landed nearly six nominations at this year’s prestigious Emmy Awards.
On the other hand, Wrexham AFC has been struggling in the Second Division, with only one win in nearly five matches. However, the club has not failed to entertain the fans with thrilling matches. Meanwhile, this was not the first time Reynolds and McElhenney were credited for their incredible job.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have surely turned the tides for Wrexham ever since their takeover. The duo has left no stone unturned to help the club achieve its dream. However, their efforts for the team did not go unthanked, as they were awarded the highest civil honor.
A while ago, the council of Wrexham awarded Reynolds and McElhenney with the Freedom of Wrexham, the highest Civic award. The event took place in December at the city’s Guildhall, following Wrexham’s win 3-2 against Notts County.
