New beginnings certainly come with a plethora of emotions! Not only those of excitement and enthusiasm but also of risks and the fear of losing everything at hand. And while Ryan Reynolds and his celebrity partner gave their blood and sweat to ensure Wrexham FC’s success; the two certainly had their share of fears and worries when they first bought the club.

The underdog Welsh football club did emerge victorious as they capped off the 2022-23 National League championship, not only with a new title but as the proud trophy holders. However, much was at stake when the two actors first dedicated themselves to bringing back the club’s glorious wings. After all, it was about a commitment to bring the 15-year-old majestic past back. And it was clearly not an easy task.

An unseen footage surfaced from their Disney Plus documentary, Welcome to Wrexham, on TikTok depicts the two owners discussing their budget at the beginning of 2021-2022, which is when they acquired the Welsh Club. McElhenney apparently revealed in a very serious and no-nonsense tone that “If we don’t get promoted the year after that, we’ll lose £ 1 million.” “Okay, that’s scary as f***,” the Deadpool Mercenary exclaimed without batting an eyelid. Well, despite the fear, their hard work and dedication did pay off when the Tigers bagged a 3-1 Victory over Boreham Wood and promotion to the fifth tier football. And did you know the Tigers are now playing with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsa?

…In friendly matches! Yes. As many football fans are already aware, the underdog club will see eye to eye with these clubs as they prepare for their upcoming battles. While they will lock horns with Erik Ten Hag’s Man United at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on July 25th, that is exactly six days from now. The Tigers will conclude their US trip by contending a friendly match in Philipedia on July 29th.

According to the likes of Gary Neville and the star player Jacob Mendy, the club’s ambition is really high. They apparently hint at bagging yet another promotion this year. Mendy will notably play for the first time since 2008 and is certainly very excited.
