According to a new Variety report, Universal Studios’ distribution chief, Jim Orr, pulled out all the stops to hype up Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey at CinemaCon on Wednesday. Orr believes the project, which is underway in production, will be “a visionary, once-in-a-generation cinematic masterpiece that Homer himself would quite likely be proud of.” Although Orr looked serious, the audience of theater owners could not help but crack up, let alone the netizens. 

Jim Orr talked about Christopher Nolan’s “staggering all-star cast,” which includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. However, no one nodded in disagreement on that aspect. Yet, Universal Studios lacked footage for Nolan’s forthcoming film, The Odyssey, leaving fans online even more split in their opinions after Orr’s bold claims.

While Universal Studios did not have any teaser for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming feature, which is about to clash with Christopher Nolan at the box office, fans were too polarized to redirect their attention from Jim Orr’s The Odyssey assertions.

Christopher Nolan is one of the select few filmmakers of Tinseltown who never miss a mark. And when the word finally got out on the street about his upcoming adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, the frenzy was enough to attest that. However, with the Universal executive, Jim Orr, beating the trumpets so loudly before its cinematic touchdown, fans struggle with disbelief.

Of course, many are sold on the idea, but then again, just as many are not.

A few skeptics contested Orr by questioning how he could speak on behalf of a man who lived ages ago. Meanwhile, some could not resist a fact check, pointing out that Homer could not speak English.
