“Unbearable amount of vitriol”- Audra McDonald Defends Meghan Markle, Lauds Her for Enduring Everything With “Grace and Strength”
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, might have suffered some harsh loss of friendships amidst the all-time high-rising controversies. However, the way she leads her life in the quiet of Montecito being in her own element has made her admirable in many eyes. And no, we are not talking about the fans or the Sussex squaddies here. For facing all that life threw at her undaunted, the Duchess has garnered praise from many well-known celebrities in Hollywood. Recently, another famous personality Audra McDonald has jumped onto the bandwagon of the same.
Be it bigwigs like George Clooney, and Priyanka Chopra or artists such as Beyoncé, they all have lauded, praised, and even defended the former Suits actress in times of crude criticism. Joining the list is Audra McDonald, who has once again hailed her as a source of inspiration. Writing for Vanity Fair, the six-time Tony award winner answered some of the most Proust questionnaires.

When asked of the one living person who inspires her the most, McDonald wrote without hesitation that it was Meghan Markle. “I don’t know how she continues to walk through the world with grace, strength, and purpose…” wrote the actress. Further mentioning how Markle has been subjected to an “unbearable amount of vitriol and hate,” she wished she did not have to endure any of it.
This is, reasonably, not the first time the American actress has spoken in support of the former.
Audra McDonald for Meghan Markle over the years
In one of her on-air live interviews, the Broadway actress had called for all the trenchant criticism against Meghan Markle to stop. Speaking for Today she asked the press and media to stop abusing the Duchess. Being a staunch supporter of Markle, she had also once taken to her Instagram feed to pen a string word siding with the Duchess.
In the year 2019, when Markle was about 8 months pregnant, she wrote a paragraph asking the media to stay away from her. Reacting to the hate video that pointed Marle at touching her baby bump, Audra lashed out, saying how it was completely normal for any pregnant mother to have that instinct.
