The news about Gunn and his team going through several audition tapes has been making rounds for a while now. But now, there is some progress being made. As reported by Deadline, some insiders have shared that the Super director is all set to start the first in-person screening tests with two Netflix superstars. And another of House of Cards fame. The actress in the frame are Emma Mackey from Sex Education, Rachel Brosnahan of House of Cards, and Phoebe Dynevor of Bridgeton.
Previously, it has been reported that Rachel Brosnahan gave an ‘outstanding audition’ for the role of Lane but could be an older fit under what Gunn is looking for. The actress even admitted that she would love to play Lois Lane as she has grown up admiring the character from the comics.
As for Clark Kent, the names of Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, and Tom Brittney have been in consideration. Apart from its release in July 2025, fans are eager to know what else Gunn has to offer with the upcoming project.

With reports, it is certain that the movie is going to bring a bright side of Kent amidst the darkness of the Metropolis. Superman: Legacy will be focusing on a time when Superman will be struggling to balance his Kryptonian heritage with human upbringing, as Peter Safran shared. This was the prime reason Henry Cavill stepped down from the role, which disheartened many fans. However, fans are not hopeful about the upcoming movie and have faith in Gunn’s ideation.
With a critically acclaimed reception of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, fans have high hopes from the director about the future of DC’s universe. It will be exciting to see who the director will cast as the upcoming Lois Lane in the movie.
