We have seen the last son of Krypton being brought to life by Henry Cavill in four Superman films before. When James Gunn took to Twitter on March 16, 2023, to announce that he would direct the new Superman movie, it created a wave of anticipation. As this American filmmaker departed from the MCU, he entered the world of the new DCU where he became the creative head of DC Studios. He will direct Superman: Legacy, which will be a reboot of the Man of Steel.

With the takeover, the filmmaker came bearing the sad news of the departure of the fan favorite, Henry Cavill. This had to happen as the 56-year-old director took to Twitter and said that they needed a Kal-El character younger than in their 40s. 

In order to fulfill the character’s requirement, they brought on board David Corenswet. He seems to be the perfect fit for it because of his resemblance between himself and Henry Cavill.

In the interview, Corenswet candidly talked about how he wanted to play a lighthearted and nostalgic interpretation of the superhero tone. And lo-and-behold, a few years later and we have this young actor chosen by the DC head to play the cult favorite.

With the movie set to premiere on July 11, 2025, the fans took to Twitter and erupted in a frenzy of excitement and speculations.
