Perry revealed in his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing last year that Roberts was given the role of Susie Moss on Friends in season 2. The only condition she had was that Perry had to teach her quantum physics. Further, he also joked that the very next day he sent her a paper on wave-particle duality, the uncertainty principle, and entanglement. The actress was so impressed by this that she not only agreed to do the role, but also gifted the actor lots of bagels.
The commendable acting of Roberts and other star guests of that episode such as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Brooke Shields, and Chris Isaak made it the most-watched episode in the history of Friends. Given the number of celebrities involved in this episode, Roberts’ request was certainly unusual. Another important element of her appearance was that she was dating Perry in real life at that point. As a result, this fact adds to the intrigue of this episode.
Aside from Roberts and Perry’s off-screen romance, Brad Pitt, who was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time, made an appearance in the show.
