Quentin Tarantino is reportedly gearing up to make his final cinematic masterpiece after years of delivering unparalleled films. And who better to star in the acclaimed director’s swan song than the iconic Tom Cruise? According to a report from The InSneider, Cruise is adjusting his busy schedule to squeeze in a small role or cameo in Tarantino’s last film, The Movie Critic, alongside Brad Pitt.

As reported by Variety, Pitt is set to lead the pack in Tarantino’s upcoming venture, The Movie Critic. The film is anticipated to be a labor of love, based on a real-life film critic whom the director deeply respects. Tarantino shared in 2023 that the movie is set in California in 1977. It will be about the life of a man who fails to attain significant fame.

If this truly marks Tarantino’s farewell to filmmaking, every actor in Hollywood will be vying for the chance to collaborate with him, given his stature as one of the greatest directors in history. Cruise is no exception, and sources suggest that he is determined to make it work either during or after the reshoots for Mission: Impossible 8, a project that is expected to keep the versatile actor-producer occupied for the majority of the year. 

While Tom Cruise is known for his discipline and is unlikely to compromise with work easily, he once delayed the filming of Mission: Impossible 8 for a royal emergency.

Tom Cruise made an exception for King Charles

Cruise is a massive royal aficionado and scoring an invitation to the coronation was a dream come true. Reportedly, his crew was left in shock by the sudden change, given Cruise’s reputation for sticking to strict schedules. But when there is a royal coronation on the cards, even the strict disciplinarian can make a few adjustments. 

Cruise also attended the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations. Rumor has it that the billionaire actor shares a close bond with the Prince and Princess of Wales. Prince William and Kate Middleton were given an exclusive sneak peek of Top Gun: Maverick. Not only that, they even honored the London premiere of the blockbuster movie with their presence. With the royal family going through a tough time, could Cruise possibly rearrange his schedule for Mission: Impossible 8 once more to pay them a visit?
