Tim Allen Claims It Is Not About Money as ‘Toy Story 5’ Inches Closer to a Probable Global Takeover
When Buzz Lightyear first said his famous catchphrase, “To infinity and beyond,” back in 1995, Tim Allen probably did not imagine it meant he would still be voicing the iconic Pixar character 30 years later—and neither did we. Yet here we are, with both the comedian and his co-star Tom Hanks returning for Toy Story 5 in June 2026, five years since their last appearance in the iconic animated franchise.
This latest chapter in the Toy Story saga promises to bring the beloved series full circle—or at least that is what Tim Allen recently hinted at. With recording for it already underway, the actor is sharing a few nuggets about what fans can expect from the project.

Tim Allen recently revealed to Collider that he has already wrapped up his “first five-hour [recording] session for Buzz” in Toy Story 5. But before anyone accuses Pixar of milking the franchise dry, Allen had something to say about the reasoning behind the sequel. “I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it,” Allen explained. He added that the fifth installment only happened because of a “brilliant script,” emphasizing that Pixar would not have moved forward without a strong story.
“It’s really clever,” Allen teased about Buzz’s next adventure. The comedian, who has been the voice of Buzz since the first film in 1995, also admitted it was “really weird” slipping back into character after five years. The last time fans saw Buzz and Woody was in Toy Story 4, and not everyone was thrilled about the franchise continuing past that, including Quentin Tarantino, who has some strong feelings on the matter.
Tarantino even declared that he would never watch the fourth Toy Story movie for this one big reason.
Quentin Tarantino thinks Toy Story should have stopped at three
In a conversation with Bill Maher on the Club Random podcast, Quentin Tarantino made his opinion on the Toy Story franchise crystal clear. For him, it is a trilogy—and a perfect one at that. According to the filmmaker, the third movie wrapped up the story “as perfectly as you could,” and anything beyond that feels unnecessary. Tarantino even called the first two movies masterpieces and the third “magnificent.” In his mind, that is where the story ended. “So I don’t care if it’s good, I’m done,” he said, explaining why he skipped Toy Story 4.

While Tarantino may not watch the fifth installment either, there is still plenty of excitement surrounding the upcoming movie. On top of that, Tim Allen’s enthusiasm about the “clever” script further offered hope that Pixar’s still got a few tricks up its sleeve. And with Buzz and Woody’s original voices back in action, fans can rest assured that the heart and humor of the series are alive and well.
