Much like any promotion, Meghan Markle’s leap from her busy life in Hollywood to the extravagant life as a Duchess was met with both congratulatory and ‘it should have been me’ sentiments. On one hand, people were comparing her impact to that of Princess Diana, while on the other, she was deemed a bully. Surprisingly, both of these narratives were being churned out from the Palace itself. In cases where the opinions are so polarized, one often counts on the past to bring out the truth. And for reasons many will not agree with, this recipe often works for Meghan Markle.

As the Suits actress stepped into the royal family as Prince Harry’s wife, netizens were quick to judge. And when they could not find enough material to nitpick from her latest appearances, they resorted to digging out her past. But even as Meghan Markle turns a new page after leaving the royal family, nothing except for acts of kindness have been found in her past. And a 2016 interview featuring the actress further proves her good nature.

An old interview proves Meghan Markle is just as “cheeky” as Prince Harry

Owing to the fact that he was younger and brimming with mischief, Prince Harry was often described as the “cheeky” Prince. And somewhere on the other side of the world, his future wife was being regarded likewise as she handled a mid-interview interruption with grace and good nature that couldn’t possibly be faked. Without a hint of frustration, the former Suits actress used television terminology to make the host laugh.

The Duchess of Sussex in 2016 sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada. She was there to talk about her shoot with Reitmans and more about fashion. Just as she was describing how her personal style differs from her on-screen persona, a drilling noise interrupted them. However, the Duchess brushed it off with a good-natured “holding for sound.”

If the dates in the Harry & Meghan docuseries are accurate, then the interview was shot just two months before she met the Prince. And it testifies to her good nature.

Is the Duchess of Sussex a bully?

Among the many headlines that had Markle’s name on them, one consisted of a royal staff member accusing her of being a bully. For the people who did not like her from the beginning, the other shoe had just dropped. But looking at her past interviews and testimonies of her friends, the Duchess of Sussex and Meghan Markle seem like two different people.

Many even accuse her of manipulating Prince Harry. However, the aforementioned interview is a clear indicator that the “cheeky” Duke fell for Markle’s cheekiness. To further put people at ease, the bullying claims surrounding Meghan Markle could never be proven and to this day, the Duchess continues to support millions through the Archewell Foundation.
