Despite calling him his brother, Perry pulled a Chandler and said, “He’s actually not that nice a guy.” While Letterman tried to give him the benefit of the doubt by saying that this remark had nothing to do with the Emmy nominations, Perry jokingly disagreed and said, “Let’s face it. Everything counts.”
In 2002, both Friends stars received Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Friends. Therefore, it was a big deal for both of them. However, Perry admitted if LeBlanc had won, it would be like Perry winning, too. He thanked and honored the 54-year-old actor “with a heavy heart.” Moreover, he also made fans nostalgically emotional when he wrote, “And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”
