David Corenswet’s assuming the role of Clark Kent is a dream come true. At least, per the notes of his interview three years ago with Evan Romano, a journalist for Men’s Health Mag, he could be seen mentioning the “pie in the sky” role for him is Superman. At a time when the possibility was still under hooks and mostly unsubstantial, he had retorted how the entire concept cued at something that “doesn’t happen too often.” Looks like the new Superman spoke too soon.
Corenswet further said that the role has a studded “archetype” attached to people’s minds. Hence, it would take a lot of brainstorming to procure something “that feels new and relevant.”. While addressing the same, he also referred to how Superman has been often “over-simplified” and “underappreciated”, but also it is something restricted to his mind. While the interviewer was already envisioning him as Superman, he responded by taking it in writing, adding how “maybe we can start a petition.”
While a petition was not required for him to land the role, his thoughts did mirror Gunn’s vision, nevertheless.

Previously, James Gunn had confessed how the ideal vision for his Superman aligns with that of Christopher Reeve’s. Not only that, he also pitched how Superman: Legacy will entail its approach to a darker sphere. Accommodating the Wildstorm Universe into the DCU, Gunn also expressed his idea for more of a traditional framework. Furthermore, he also trodded the steps accordingly while casting for the project.
Gunn also unleashed the antagonist of the project by casting María Gabriela De Faría from The Authority. Furthermore, he also took to his Instagram to track and keep updates on his movie, including the cast and release date. Superman: Legacy will hit the theatres on July 11th, 2025. Therefore, all that remains is to await the release and observe how David Corenswet’s vision aligns, or diverges, with James Gunn’s.
