Three Royal Crowns That Neither Meghan Markle nor Kate Middleton Could Get Their Hands-on
After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry swapped royalty for California dreaming, regal snubs have become a routine for the Sussexes. Whether they are ceremonial cold shoulders or in pertinence to noble inheritance, the Duke and the Duchess have somewhat grown accustomed to monarchical rebukes. But even for those not as hardened by the royal life, like Kate Middleton and Prince William, certain things remain out of reach like the three royal tiaras.
Despite the Sussexes’ royal snub collection, these three royal crowns have put both Markle and Middleton in the same sinking boat.

There are approximately 50 crowns in the Royal Vault, but three particular ones cannot be worn by Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. According to a recent report by Express.co.uk, the first tiara the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex are not allowed to step out in is the Crown of Princess Blanche, also known as the Palatine or Bohemian Crown. Reputed as the oldest surviving royal headgear, it dates back to 1370. It belonged to King Edward III and Anne of Bohemia.
The crown featuring diamonds, balas rubies, emeralds, and sapphires was part of Princess Blanche’s dowry when she married Louis III. So, it is no longer in royal possession. The second is the Indian Ruby, Lasque, and Pearl Tiara, made up of 12 gold, tear-shaped segments and mounted with rubies and diamonds. It belonged to Queen Victoria and was left to her daughter-in-law. Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather added it to the crown’s Indian Collection later.
It is said the royals would never wear it since the Royal Collection is considered hidden. However, the most valuable among the three has yet to be unveiled.
The most exquisite royal tiara, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are banned from wearing
According to the Express.co.uk’s report citing Steven Stone Jewelers, the most treasured crown from the Royal Vault that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton cannot wear is the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Crown. The crown was worn by Princess Eugenie last in 2022. The tiara features a 93.7-carat cabochon-cut emerald as its centerpiece.

The centerpiece primarily contributes to the meaningful piece, which is estimated to be over $12 million. Though it is rumored Markle had her eye on wearing it for her wedding, the late Queen reportedly nixed the idea, citing its ties to Russia and its imperial past as a royal no-go. While Markle is no rookie when it comes to royal brush-offs, these reservations at least leveled the playing field, putting Middleton in the same territory.
