3 Reasons Deadpool X Spider-Man Movie Needs to Have Andrew Garfield With Ryan Reynolds, and Not Tom Holland
Deadpool and Spider-Man have long been a fan-favorite comic pairing, romantically or not. Now that Deadpool is in the MCU, it would be an absolute missed opportunity for the studio to let this thrilling crossover slip through their fingers. Given the multiple Spider-Man nods in Deadpool & Wolverine, it is possible that the team-up could already be on the cards. However, when it comes to picking the perfect partner for Ryan Reynolds, Andrew Garfield edges out the competition, even outshining Tom Holland.
Especially with all the rumors about Garfield potentially swinging back into the MCU, here are three reasons why The Amazing Spider-Man is a better match for Ryan Reynolds than Tom Holland.
The age difference between Tom Holland and Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield are both in their 40s, while Tom Holland is still in his twenties. Considering the age gap, Garfield could actually play a more mature version of Spider-Man that would be the perfect foil to Reynolds' typically unserious Deadpool. A similar dynamic was seen between Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Deadpool recently, which was very well received.
Even though Ryan Reynolds’ preferred choice for Spider-Man is Tom Holland and the latter's wish to enter the Deadpool franchise, Hugh Jackman hinted earlier in a Marvel Thailand interview that Wolverine and Deadpool would rather "pile on him and abuse him".
While that would surely bring the house down, Holland’s Spider-Man might end up playing second fiddle to Reynolds' over-the-top Deadpool.
Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds' chemistry
Much like Deadpool, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man has a knack for poking fun at bad guys without a second thought. And with Ryan Reynolds, known for his signature humor, the two could spark some truly hysterical chemistry in a crossover. Not only that, but Garfield could easily nail the playful homoerotic undertones needed for a Spideypool movie.
For those who might still be on the fence about this should just revisit the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, where both Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds were seen locking lips, and with Blake Lively sitting right beside them.
Tom Holland might not be the right fit for an R-rated movie

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has always been geared toward a younger crowd, which is not surprising, considering the actor first stepped into the role at just 18. And not to forget that the MCU's very own Harry Potter, who also happens to be obsessed with Harry Potter fan in real life, has just graduated in the Spider-Man franchise.
Even though Holland’s character has entered a darker chapter in his life, which calls for a more mature perspective, an R-rated Deadpool crossover would be jarring shift in tonality for the character.
