3 Hollywood Aces Who Ruled the Booze World, Before Tom Holland’s Entry With His Non-Alcohol Alcohol

Published 10/14/2024, 2:12 AM EDT

Amidst the never-ending parade of starlets, scandals, and, of course, spirits, it seems Tinseltown’s latest trend is not just acting out but bottling it. Every other celebrity now fancies themselves as an expert on the finer points of booze, each one claiming to have distilled the essence of their chaotic charm into liquid form. And with Tom Holland, a retired alcoholic, stepping in with a never heard before 'non-alcoholic' alcohol, it is high time to check how many fishes there are in the sea.

While booze earlier, when associated with a celebrity, would herald a scandal, the spotlight stealers have played smart with this one, as they make millions by offering you a chance to get intoxicated when you are not. So, here is a list of Hollywood’s finest, not just ruling the screen but the liquor shelves, too.

Perhaps one of the first celebrities to truly herald into the limelight his booze business is Ryan Reynolds. A master at commercial packaging, as witnessed by the billion dollar mark touching Deadpool  & Wolverine, which unsurprisingly the actor has released a limited edition Aviation American Gin line for, Reynolds although 'created' the brand, he did not make it.

The actor bought a few stakes in the already established brand in 2018 to sell it only two years later for a whopping approximate of 600 Million, all the while remaining the face of it. If not Deadpool, this Reynolds performance is worthy of an Oscar, if only there were one for best actor in a supporting role to gin.

Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, a man whose physique alone could make you reconsider your gym membership, is now setting the bar, quite literally, in the tequila world. His Teremana Tequila is not just riding the coattails of his larger-than-life persona, it has gained a reputation for quality that is almost as impressive as the marketing juggernaut behind it.

The boom that took this booze business from 0 in 2020 to approximately of $100 Million in 2023 is a testament of its success. Moreover, if there is as much truth to Dwayne Johnson's words as there is taste to his tequila then, Tereman Tequila also makes for the perfect post-workout celebratory drink.

Matthew McConaughey

Clearly, good shots seem to be Matthew McConaughey's specialty, as he was named the creative director of the prestigious brand Wild Turkey's Longbranch Bourbon. McConaughey brought his Texas charm to the Bourbon business and, despite his Hollywood tag, ended up making it a household name.

Just how successful the actor's booze was proven when Longbranch even opened a ranch, allowing visitors to witness the distillery where all the magic happens. However, ever the one to make an entry as grand as an exit, McConaughey in 2022, made his exit from the brand, but his legacy, like his bourbon, remains smooth and ever so hard to forget.

In a world where celebrities are pouring themselves into the booze business with abandon, Tom Holland’s venture into the realm of 'non-alcoholic alcohol' is both curious and commendable. This paradox of a product, born from Holland's own struggles with addiction, something he has discussed with surprising candor, dares to tread a different path. Should it succeed, it may just prove that not every beverage needs to be a double shot of decadence. Sometimes, a bit of self-awareness can serve up a refreshing twist.
