We are not saying that Henry Cavill and DC are lovers that need to stay away from each other but keep sticking to one another, but someone who is not familiar with their controversial breakup would think so. Months and numerous project announcements later, any new DC update immediately finds its way to Henry Cavill. However, this time around it is for a very good reason.

While DC has already started working on the DCU owing to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership, fans met one of the last DCEUP projects in Barry Allen’s The Flash. And while it is obvious by the title that Ezra Miller is the soul of the movie, a superstar to emerge from the same was Supergirl. The casting of Sasha Calle as Supergirl provided great solace to wounded Henry Cavill fans. Even more so after fans witnessed her surreal costume and how similar it was to Snyder’s Man of Steel.

Calle made sure she was on the right side of the fandom as she gained the former Superman’s stamp of approval. And it was clear after the movie’s release that it was not just through her acting performance. Given that Kara Zor-El is from the same universe as Cavill’s Superman, the similarities in their costumes were a result of attention to detail.

In a movie that received scathing criticism for riding on the coattails of CGI, Sasha Cohen’s Supergirl costume looked regal. Akin to that of Cavill, it had texture and definition. Moreover, it was made sure that the trademark red cape is a real one and not birthed by special effects. However, the similarity in Callen’s costume makes one wonder if Gunn’s younger Superman will also follow a similar route.

Will the Henry Cavill Superman costume find a place in James Gunn’s DC?

The rise in believers of Henry Cavill supremacy could not come at a worse time for James Gunn. However, he has maintained that the actor’s retirement is nothing personal and just a byproduct of the grand vision he has for DC.

While the upcoming projects have made fans believe so, the sentiment will not be the same if the director disregards every element of Henry Cavill’s Superman. This is where the Snyder Cut’s favored Superman costume comes in. The textured costume can serve as a bridge from Snyder to Gunn’s Superman and ultimately calm the chaos.
