The Wrexham Craze Has Taken Over America Too After Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Worked Their Charm Even in Absence
Wrexham AFC has stolen the hearts of all North Americans. In their recent tour to the US, the Welsh footballers played against big-league football teams like Manchester United. And as it turns out, the fans seem to warm up to the two Hollywood co-owners more. The pre-game craze in the stadiums for the Welsh club was bubbling. While we have seen Deadpool 3 actor Ryan Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney bring good luck to players, the co-owners have lifted the spirits of the fan too.
Wrexham AFC got promoted to the leagues after 15 long years. And after signing their star player, Paul Mullin, the team managed to win their league-winning match. Seems like the contagious positive spirits of the Reynolds’ club have affected the North Americans.

The Manchester United owner Avram Glazer attended the match between Man United and Arsenal, where he dressed in camouflaged clothes. He wore simple jeans, a T-shirt, and a cap. Avoiding all questions from the reporters, Glazer seemed to avoid a repeat of the MetLife Stadium incident. According to Goal, every match in the last season had the same booing. Chanting “We want Glazers out,” the crowd did not really show the same hospitality as it is showing the Welsh club now. The anti-Glazer sentiment is rising because the fans are unhappy with the conduct of the family and the way Man United is running.
On the other hand, Wrexham’s match against LA City II had been a hit with the fans throughout. They were so engrossed with the fans that they even missed the team’s goal. And this is not the only time the Hollywood owners have won the hearts of their fans in the US.
On another such match with a big league, Wrexham fans were seen enjoying this in the stadium.

The Wrexham team owners had earlier pulled another heartwarming thing for the fans. In an attempt to have their absence not missed, the Hollywood stars installed their life-size cardboard cutouts. The fans came and clicked selfies with the owners, while the team trained before the match. There were 50,000 fans watching them there. And in this Man United match, 35,000 people were in attendance. Tickets were announced in the classic witty Reynolds manner and were sold out within hours.
According to Goal, tons of fans drove for hours to come and see the match. It even said that a Wrexham fan said in a podcast, “atmosphere was crazy in all honesty.” The Hollywood co-owners are definitely playing a huge role in the fandom of the club spreading widely.
