‘The Office’ to Follow the ‘Star Wars’ Approach for Reboot? Internet Stands Divided Yet Again
It has been almost a decade since the NBC sitcom, The Office, gave fans its last dose of dopamine boost. Even after so many years, fans are yet to move on from the less-than-lavish offices of Dunder Mifflin. And every time a show leaves with such an impact on its audience, fans always itch for more of it. And with The Office as well, there is a never-ending thirst among fans to extend the show with a reboot. As per the maker, this desire of fans could actually go down, but, with a Star Wars approach!
Last year, producer Greg Daniels, during an interview with Collider, expressed his thoughts about the potential return to the hit sitcom. As per Daniels, if ever a spin-off of The Office comes to fruition, the show would just extend its universe “like the way [The] Mandalorian is like an extension of Star Wars”. The Mandalorian, the American space Western television series, did not feature any of the familiar Star Wars characters.

Following in the footsteps of Jon Favreau’s creation, The Office reboot will not be bringing back any of its old characters. This points to the fact that there would not be any Michael and Dwight’s ridiculousness or Pam and Jim’s romance in the scene. This invited a mixed response from the loyal fans who still turn to the show for comfort.
Ever since fans took notice of the 2022 interview, they divided into two groups. While some found the news exciting, others are apprehensive about how the makers will handle it.

The Mandalorian received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. While the majority appreciated the franchise’s take on expanding the universe, some felt it was an underwhelming outing and the same might be the case for The Office reboot.
Fans even shared their own creative ideas for the reboot in the comments. They even put forward their guesses on how the makers could attempt to extend the universe.

Despite the apprehension among a section of fans, there were people who genuinely saw potential in the spin-off of The Office. Given that neither the cast nor the setting of the show are decided, some fans feel it is too soon to reach any conclusion. However, given the fact that the realization of how it would be impossible to make the series in today’s day and age curtsy of its risky jokes pass through the viewer’s mind when watching the original series, the makers have already found themselves in a predicament.
