The Odyssey has now added a rather cheeky piece of digital bragging rights to its growing collection of records. Christopher Nolan’s epic reached 1 million Letterboxd user logs in exactly three days, smashing the previous 12-to-14-day record shared by James Gunn’s Superman and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Not bad for a film whose heroes are busy crossing seas rather than merely saving cities.

Then came the box office, with all the subtlety of a Greek god entering a room. The $250 million Universal Pictures production earned $264.1 million worldwide in three days, including $124.5 million domestically and $139.6 million across 74 international markets. That gives Christopher Nolan his biggest global opening yet, surpassing both The Dark Knight Rises and Oppenheimer.

The film also secured 2026’s biggest opening weekend for a live-action release and made a spectacular nuisance of itself in IMAX. Its 15/70mm presentation delivered the biggest-ever IMAX opening day in several territories. Superman may still have the cape, but The Odyssey is currently collecting records with the efficiency of a hero who has somewhere to be.
