It is no secret that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, did not have a life full of royal fantasies and privileges as other princesses. Ever since her courtship days with Prince Harry, the former American actress has always been prone to numerous controversies all her life. Nonetheless, the ones that erupted from the secret walls of Buckingham never came to an end. Many members of the House of Windsor got on her wrong foot, including the ones who once had her in their good books. 

Out of all, King Charles, Markle’s father-in-law, and the former Queen Elizabeth II had much affection for their youngest daughter-in-law. However, that soon changed. 

The Queen called Meghan Markle evil

According to an exclusive issue by The Spectator in May 2023, a confidential source closely acquainted with the family revealed that the Queen was very much out of her usual ways to land on a comment for the controversial Duchess. The anonymous source mentioned the former monarch referred to Meghan Markle as “evil” during a drinks reception at Balmoral in August of last year in 2022. 

This technically took place just one month prior to her sad demise at the same Scottish highlands of the United Kingdom. The outlet also added how such a remark from the Queen herself startled everyone. Everybody’s “eyebrows hit the ceiling” hearing such savage remarks from the Queen concerning Markle. 

Although it is still unclear how much of it is true, reports also had it that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caused quite a disappointment to the Queen during her last days. 

Prince Harry and his wife hurt the Queen 

As if the controversies from the funeral were not already feeding the frenzy, various acquaintances of the late Queen chipped in their thoughts about the Duchess. According to the Daily Beast, a friend of the former Monarch revealed the Duke and Duchess caused the Queen great suffering in the months leading to her death. Precisely, their multi-million-dollar Netflix projects and the endless attacks on the royal family did not go down well with the Queen. 

Adding to it was Prince Harry’s then-upcoming novel, which further narrowed down their indifference to the Palace. All of it combined with the agony of drifting apart from her grandson added to the Queen’s miseries, said reports. The reason being that she was quite close to both the Duke and the Duchess during the initial years of their marriage.
