In less than two months, the highly anticipated espionage extravaganza, Argylle, is set to hit the screens in 2024. Its all-star cast features the magnetic duo of Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa and also comedy action legends like Samuel L. Jackson and John Cena. However, it is not just all this star power but also the cinematic powerhouse of the iconic filmmaker, Matthew Vaughn, that had fans holding their breaths for its launch.

Now, another important detail regarding the flick has emerged. The spy action flick finally received its parent guidance rating earlier today. As seen in a post that appeared on X (previously Twitter) recently, it turned out to have been deemed a PG-13 watch! Well, this has proven to be quite a surprising twist for many eager viewers. The majority of them were expecting at least some adult themes in the film.

Considering the steamy opening scene between Cavill and Dua Lipa’s characters from its trailer, it was expected that the movie might be rated R. Particularly due to the presence of Samuel L. Jackson in it, who is known to frequently use profanity to express his characters in films. With a PG-13 rating, all that has gone out of the picture. This has left fans rather conflicted over their anticipation of the flick.

Judging by the comments on the X post, some were disgruntled by this. Meanwhile, others appreciated that the flick would be clean of adult content.

Twitterati expresses its divided opinions of Argylle receiving a PG-13 rating

Earlier, the director of the movie, Matthew Vaughn had revealed that the trailer of the movie was a small reflection of how “cool” the movie was going to be. So, it was a given that the flick would be a lot more intense. Especially since Vaughn’s mastery in the spy realm was proven with the 2014 R-rated hit, Kingsman: The Secret Service. Those disappointed in the contrasting update for Argylle were quick to let their frustration out in the comments.

On the other hand, some users were relieved by this factor.

While some felt this was another reason to catch the movie in the theaters, others were evidently put off by it.
