‘The Flash’ Film Goes Further to Repeat ‘Man of Steel’s Controversial Ending With Henry Cavill’s Superman
The Flash film is going to take the controversial ending of Man of Steel a step further with a little twist. At the end of Man of Steel, Henry Cavill’s Superman ultimately kills General Zod. It proves, when it comes to saving humanity from evil and Superman has no choice but to kill the evil, he would do it. However, the upcoming Barry Allen movie takes a step further into an alternate reality.
The upcoming Flash film includes Michael Keaton’s Batman in an alternate reality, including the younger version of Barry. There is also a Kryptonian refugee, Kara Zor-El, Supergirl, who is a well-known cousin of Superman. According to the glimpses from the trailers, it seems Kara will be amongst the most powerful characters. Her character shows a darker take on the controversial ending of Man of Steel, as reported by Screenrant.

Keaton’s Batman and Barry free Kara from prison in the film. Apparently, she does not have any contriteness in killing anyone. She throws prison guards around, one of whom she throws directly into the explosion. Realistically speaking, none of the guards could have survived Kara’s heat at the moment. And this is an unconcealed display of a Kryptonian hero using more destructive force than Man of Steel’s ending scene.
In Man of Steel, Kal-El asks Zod to stop harming humanity, but Zod denies it firmly. Ultimately, he had to snap Zod’s neck.
But Supergirl’s killing could be less controversial in The Flash film
The upcoming DC film is the universe’s big multiverse flick. The plot of the film is essentially an alternate version of the 2013 Superman movie. It took inspiration from the comic book story of Flashpoint. Nevertheless, the point is it happens in an alternate reality. Therefore, it reduces the pressure of adhering to the main plot and continues the story.

Given that, it is noticeable that Supergirl does not have more big screen history compared to Superman. So, the no-kill rule is less established for her. To add justification for her actions, she was imprisoned and ill-treated for a long time. Therefore, it makes her more likely to turn towards her more lethal force.

Considering these factors, Supergirl’s character in the movie might not face the kind of controversy of Man of Steel. Yet, the Barry Allan movie revising the 2013 movie with an alternate reality lens adds an element of excitement.
