“The first major movie star”- Ryan Reynolds Steals Hearts at Hugh Jackman’s Live Show, Reminiscing Their First Union
When Marvel’s regenerative degenerate joined forces with the Ol’ canucklehead to piece together MCU’s loose ends and bounce back from its plummeting reputation, fans knew they were bracing for a blockbuster that would go down in history. However, it was not until fans fully immersed themselves in this cinematic experience that they grasped the explosive potential of combining star power with artistic ingenuity. Deadpool & Wolverine surely doubled down on the savior syndrome the MCU takes pride in, but with that, it brought a dynamic force to the front pages that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman constantly thank their stars for.
Reynolds recently reflected on his first encounter with Jackman at the latter’s show and how he managed to leave the Marvel Jesus star-struck.

Ryan Reynolds joined forces with Marvel Studios and Hugh Jackman to bring a love story for ages with Deadpool & Wolverine. Although their box office run came to a blockbuster end last year, their bromance was far from over. Reynolds recently graced Jackman’s From New York, With Love live show at Radio City Music Hall, and took center stage to share the sweetest anecdote, dubbing the Wolverine actor “the first major movie star” he was fortunate to work with “16 or 17 years ago.”
The Hollywood Reporter shared a clip from Reynolds’ candid recollection referencing his first-ever project with Jackman, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). The Deadpool actor reminisced about his fledgling days in showbiz when self-doubt and uncertainty plagued him. Yet, witnessing Jackman’s charisma and talent firsthand, which earned him the reputation of a true “Movie Star” in Reynolds’ eyes, proved to be a galvanizing experience that bolstered his own confidence.
Although Hugh Jackman likened Deadpool & Wolverine to a romantic comedy long back, the real love story was happening at Radio City Music Hall’s stage.
Ryan Reynolds wears his heart on his sleeve for Hugh Jackman
At the From New York, With Love live show starring Hugh Jackman at Radio City Music Hall, a Ryan Reynolds hijack was well anticipated, but a Deadpool & Wolverine love myth? That is very non-Marvel but true. In the clips shared by The Hollywood Reporter on X, Reynolds did not cloak his wit nor did he cover the quips he reserved for Jackman’s big night. However, Reynolds went on to call Jackman his “gotcha for life,” and that alone melted every Marvel heart out there.

Reynolds did not play by the book and significantly deviated from the assumed slot that a security guard would drag him out and snatch the mic. Although the likelihood of finding him in Radio City’s garbage dump was very high, his love letter to Jackman secured a safer landing. “He is genuinely the best human being I know. And I have 4 children,” Reynolds said, knowing well that it would be absurd to question his commitment when his multiversal quest was all about bringing Wolverine back from the dead.
