Recently, Universal Pictures successfully got the rights to Mark A. Bradley's book Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America. With that, Deadline reported that a movie adaptation of the same titled, Blood Runs Coal, is in the works with Cillian Murphy as the lead. He is set to play the book's protagonist, Chip Yablonski, and will also produce the flick.
The script for Blood Runs Coal will be penned by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. The movie will be set in the late 1960s in the Pennsylvania coal mines, talking about one of the most notorious crimes in labor history.
