‘The Batman II’: Matt Reeves Weighs in on a Possible Reunion With Greig Fraser for the Sequel
In a world packed with superheroes flaunting flashy superpowers, Batman stands out as the only one who ditches the cosmic abilities and leans into real-world skills—think cutting-edge tech, a genius brain, martial arts mastery, and top-tier detective smarts—to protect Gotham City. Sure, the DC hero has had plenty of makeovers, but Matt Reeves took his shot in The Batman by stripping away the usual superhero gloss and diving deep into Batman’s psyche as a flawed, gritty hero. To make the film a box-office smash and the highest-grossing serial killer flick, Reeves teamed up with cinematographer Greig Fraser.
Now, with discussions swirling about the sequel, Reeves has hinted at the possibility of Fraser rejoining the Bat-team for another round.

Director Matt Reeves recently chatted with the Collider about all the exciting things happening in Gotham, including updates on The Batman II. When asked if Greig Fraser would return as cinematographer, Reeves was unsure but crossing his fingers that their schedules align. Even with the uncertainty, Reeves made it clear he really wants Fraser back, calling him “the best” to work with.
Reeves went on to explain how Fraser had been super hands-on with The Penguin series, ensuring it shared the same visual DNA as The Batman. Their creative chemistry is off the charts, and working on The Penguin gave them even more opportunities to fine-tune the gritty, atmospheric style that connects but also contrasts Oz’s world with Batman’s. So, all Reeves can do now is hope the stars (and schedules) align so he and Fraser can team up again for the sequel.
Teaming up with a hotshot cinematographer definitely comes with its share of wait-and-see, but the thing that is crystal clear for The Batman II is its progress.
